Regardless of the state or city in which you are operating a medical marijuana business, the city council and the law enforcers want to make sure that the provision of medical marijuana to patients is carried out in a safe and effective manner. The laws have been set up mainly to protect the welfare of locals and patients. So as a marijuana business owner, you must ensure that you adhere to the city marijuana ordinance and the local and state laws. The Chief of Police and the Corporation Counsel have articulated that all existing businesses and those that will be setting up in the future will deemed unlawful if they don’t have proper licenses in place. In addition, the city council will have the authority to respond to the complaints they receive and enforce the law on those businesses and business owners who fail to follow the city marijuana ordinance.
Individuals who cultivate marijuana at their residences must register their activity as home based occupation. The new ordinance states that other than those individuals who have proper permits, no one else should cultivate, dispense or provide marijuana to anyone whether it is the patients or the caregiver centre. The registration process is also quite stringent as it not only involves inspection, but approval from various city agencies as well.
